Obligations of the manufacturer regarding the CE marking of construction products
As a manufacturer of construction products, it is advisable to consider certain obligations related to CE marking in advance. This includes drawing up a declaration of performance in accordance with EU rules and affixing the CE marking to the product as a sign of conformity with the applicable standards. Without a declaration of performance, the affixing of CE markings is not permitted. In addition, the technical documentation and the declaration of performance should be kept for at least ten years. To ensure product quality, appropriate procedures should be put in place to continuously verify the declared performance during series production. This includes sample testing and documentation of complaints and product recalls. In addition, it is advisable that construction products bear an identification mark and contain information on the manufacturer's identity, as well as instructions for use and safety information. In case of non-conformity, immediate corrective measures should be taken and national authorities should be informed promptly.
The experts at easyCE will be happy to help you prepare the necessary documents for conformity assessment, including product analysis, risk assessment and final declaration of performance. We will also check your instructions for use for conformity or prepare a compliant instruction for use for your construction product.
Safe use of CE-marked construction products
As users and users of CE-marked products, we advise you to use the construction products only in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Unauthorized modifications or tampering should be avoided, as they may not only invalidate the conformity of the product, but also endanger the safety of people, property and the environment. Adhering to the intended use according to the manufacturer's instructions in the user manual is essential to avoid using the product for purposes other than those intended. Deviations from these instructions can significantly increase the risk of accidents or injuries and compromise the effectiveness of the built-in safety measures. If specific adjustments are required, it is essential that these are carried out exclusively by qualified professionals in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.
The experts at easyCE are available to answer any questions you may have about conformity. Do you have any doubts about the CE conformity of a construction product you have purchased or are planning to purchase? easyCE will be happy to check the CE documentation for you.
Exporter's responsibility for CE marking
As an exporter of construction products to EU member states, it is your responsibility to ensure that your products comply with the applicable CE marking requirements. It is therefore of great importance to ensure that your products are properly CE marked before export. This marking is an essential part of conformity with EU regulations and standards and serves as confirmation of this. Proper marking can avoid potential problems and ensure smooth compliance. An exporter can be considered a manufacturer if he exports a construction product under his name or brand or modifies it in a way that could affect its conformity. In such a case, the exporter is subject to the same obligations as a manufacturer under the relevant CE regulations.
The experts at easyCE will help you ensure that all required documentation and markings are complete and correctly prepared. This includes in particular the preparation of a declaration of performance explaining the essential characteristics of your products and confirming their conformity with EU standards.
Importer's responsibility for CE marking
The obligations of an importer under the CE marking include ensuring that all construction products it markets in the EU comply with the applicable requirements. This includes verifying that the manufacturer carries out the necessary performance assessments and draws up the technical documentation and the declaration of performance. The importer is also responsible for ensuring that products are properly labelled and accompanied by all the necessary documentation. An importer is considered a manufacturer when he places a construction product on the market under his name or trademark or modifies it in such a way that conformity may be affected. In this case, he is subject to the same obligations as a manufacturer under the relevant CE regulations.
The experts at easyCE will be happy to help you prepare the necessary documents for conformity assessment, including product analysis, risk assessment and final declaration of performance. We will also check your instructions for use for conformity or prepare a compliant instruction for use for your construction product.

Conformity assessment for earthing fixed point in formwork-flush wall installation with lightning protection connection
A fixed earthing point for building waterproofing acts as a connection point for external lightning protection systems (LPS) and is classified as a construction product in accordance with the provisions of the Construction Products Regulation. In the event of current being introduced through the building, for example by lightning, the fixed earthing point discharges this via the ring conductor. In addition to the extensive conformity assessment, easyCE particularly highlights essential features such as the short-circuit test and proof of use as a connection for the LPS.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Ü-mark and CE-mark?
The CE mark on a construction product indicates that the product complies with the Construction Products Regulation and other European requirements and can therefore be placed on the market in the European Economic Area.
The Ü mark identifies a construction product that meets additional requirements applicable in Germany and can therefore be installed in Germany. However, it is foreseeable that the Ü mark will disappear some time ago, as the European Court of Justice called on the German legislature to harmonize the requirements in 2014.
As a manufacturer (or distributor), how do I obtain the CE marking for my construction product?
You affix the CE marking to your construction product after checking and ensuring that your product complies with all European requirements that apply to your product (in particular the Construction Products Regulation EU 305/2011).
To do this, you must first identify the relevant guidelines, regulations and standards and then derive the requirements from them. You then check the quality of your product against these requirements. easyCE can help you with this.
How do I get a declaration of performance for my construction product?
After you have carried out the conformity assessment procedure for your construction product and ensured that your product complies with all relevant European requirements, you can issue the declaration of performance.
With the declaration of performance, you as the manufacturer or distributor assume responsibility for the declared performance. easyCE will be happy to help you draft the declaration of performance safely and in accordance with the applicable rules.
Where can I look up the requirements for construction products?
The first step is to study the Construction Products Regulation (EU) 305/2011 to understand the basic requirements.
You should then research the standards that apply to your construction product. This is usually time-consuming and expensive, as standards are not freely available and have to be purchased. The easyCE experts are very familiar with the standards landscape and can help you to keep your costs within limits.
What is a declaration of performance?
The declaration of performance is a mandatory document for the CE marking of the construction product in order to provide comprehensive information on the performance characteristics in accordance with European standards.
It signals the conformity of the construction product and enables a transparent assessment for end users and construction professionals. With easyCE you receive customer-specific declarations of performance for your individual construction product. Uncomplicated, precise and tailored to your requirements - we make CE marking easy!
What is the manufacturer's role in ensuring construction product conformity and how does EasyCE support them in ensuring legal standards as well as performance, risk reduction and quality requirements?
The role of the manufacturer is central to ensuring the conformity of construction products with the provisions of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). The manufacturer is responsible for the performance of its products.
In this demanding process, easyCE acts as a reliable advisor, not only offering comprehensive assistance in preparing the declaration of performance, but also carrying out an in-depth product analysis. Potential risks are identified, a detailed risk assessment is carried out and concrete measures are proposed to mitigate any risks. Through this holistic approach, EasyCE not only enables manufacturers to meet legal standards, but also helps ensure that their construction products meet the required quality and safety requirements.
What are the essential features of CE for construction products?
Essential characteristics are the distinctive properties or qualities that are crucial for a specific product, system or process. These characteristics define the fundamental aspects that determine the function, performance or safety of a product.
In relation to construction products and the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), essential characteristics may include, for example, specific performance parameters, safety requirements or standards that are crucial for conformity and CE marking. easyCE supports manufacturers in identifying these essential characteristics and ensuring that their products meet these requirements.
